Here it is January 13 th and ALL is well. We are sitting in Venice Florida, enjoying the winter and having a great time. We have had many experiences here. We had a leak in the sewer system, it was a pisser to fix and clean up after. We work on Tuesdays and Saturdays (8-5) , go Square Dancing every Thursday morning, and sometimes Wednesday and or Thursday evenings. We have found about 20 caches around the area here and go when we have time. I go to the beach every time that I can. Karin goes with me, but does not like it half as much as I do. I have not been very good at writing here, maybe I will get better. Please do not hold your breath. LOL
We are in a very nice RV Resort, 649 sites, 3 laundries, pool hot tub, library, craft shop, sewing center and many game area's. We are located on Mayaka River, about 4 miles from the gulf of Mexico. We have a dog beach here, so we can take Sunny with us.
We have had 2 couples visit us here, one was our workkamper friends and the others were from our camp ground in GA. WE all went out to eat, and a trip to the beach, we had a very good time and enjoyed seeing our friends. Also had Friends from VA come and visit, it was very nice to see them,IT had been about 2 years since we saw them. I will try and learn to make more entries here to read. If you have any request , please send them to me and I will try and follow them Be good and Happy Camping

Day of Rest

Here it is Sunday, a day of rest. And, what do you think we are doing? We are doing our weekly laundry, cleaning out the truck and washing it. Gonna get ready for a new week. Remember, Every day is a Holiday and every night is New Years Eve.

As we sit here , clothes in washer, it is only about 81 degrees heading for 92( not bad compared to last week). Last week it was 100 with a heat index of 104 - 110 one day. Really made a body sweat!!

Yesterday we visited our friends Jim and Cathy in Kathy. They have a nice house and very pretty yard. Karin and Kathy went to the sewing room and spent about 4-5 hours working on some projects, while Jim and I sat on the back porch for a while then watched the Olympics for a while. Then we grilled some burgers and corn on the cob. Was a very nice meal, and we had fresh strawberries and whipped cream for desert. WE came home around 9:30 PM ,watched a little TV and went to bed.

We started talking to our boss/owner of the park yesterday about finances of the park and how we could help them out. Will keep you posted as to how it turns out today when we finish talking with her.( We have a plan) HE HE !!!

Karin is setting up her sewing machine to make some more projects. She is working on some casserole covers for hot/cold bowls. Really neat and pretty. She plans on selling them when she gets them finished. She already has several hair ties and a couple of aprons in the store for sale. She has sold one of her baggie holders and 3 aprons so far.

Karin bought a new plant while we were in Florida, it is called a pitcher plant. It has these neat looking growths( flowers) that hang down, are filled with water( we have to fill them very day) that catches bugs and a flap close and the plant eats the bugs. Talk about a natural bug spray. LOL

I am going to go out and take a picture of Karin's plant and see if I can post \it here for all to see.

Fun with Karin & Dick

Here it is Wednesday the 7th of August 2008. We have just returned from a 6 day trip to Jacksonville Florida to help Papa out. I spoke with him last Wednesday morning, and ask him what he was doing. He said, "picking up sticks". They had several storms with high winds, and he was picking up sticks as fast as he could. But he has to pick them up, break them into 3 foot length's, and carry them to the street( about 400-500 feet from his back yard) .

Let me tell you about Papa. He is 88 years young. Thinks he is a teenager.(in his mind only). He has a pace maker, has had 3 stint operations, has knee problems, uses a walker most of the time, except when he can use a wheel chair. Every afternoon, around 5 PM( it is always 5 o'clock somewhere), he has his totty. A strong scotch and water, sometimes they taste sooo... good he has 2. LOL The really scary part is he still drives, only during the daylight hours, not at night or in the rain or inclement weather. He has his won schedule, Mondays he goes to water aerobics at the YMCA, Wednesday he again goes to water aerobics and Fridays he goes to knitting classes at the YMCA. I think he really likes the 65-80 year old women that go to these places, always alone. They are either widows or their husbands are not with them. But like a kid, Papa likes being the center of attention. Papa will always have a joke for you, but usually it is so bad you can not tell it in mixed company. Talk about the proverbial "Dirty Old Man", we have one here.

We managed to clean up all of the sticks, branches and litter. Also disposed of his old dog house, he lost his dog about 3 years ago. Just never got rid of the dog house, never plans on having another dog as he can not take care of it.

Papa has a lady friend( widow) across the street from him. Every night she cooks supper for the two of them. Gives them both some company and someone to talk with. He buys meat and gives it to her so she does not incur all of the expense and labor also. Sometimes they eat at her house, sometimes at his house. The lady's name is Tookie, she is only 72 years young, and a very fine person. She even helps Papa with his yard when she can. She is in much better health than Papa.

Now back to the story. We managed to get all of the sticks cleaned up and gone. The dog house is gone. WE cut the grass which was knee high over most of the yard( about a half acre) . Had to sharpen the lawn mower blade first, then could cut the grass. Raked up and got rid of the clippings. Cut down two trees that were growing up in his hedges in the front yard, and trimmed the hedges all neatly.Had to repair the well hook up. Required digging a 68 foot ditch 2 feet deep, and replacing the pipe and check valve and now it works fine again. What a hot and long day that was, must have sweat ed off about 10 pounds. Karin was such a big help, but it almost killed her as she is used to working in an air conditioned office. Not only is she a good helper, steady worker, but a sweet and lovely helper to look at also.

WE did get to visit a couple of friends while we were there. Karon and Jon. They met us for dinner the first night as they were leaving for Tahoe early the next morning for a week. They are real nice people that we get to visit every time we go to Jacksonville. I will tell you more about them later.

Also got to go to the beach, after our dinner, we saw a marque that said Sea Turtle release at 8PM tonight. So we went and watched the release of 138 baby sea turtles. It was amazing. We also went to Little Talbot State park, it was fantastic. Has 5 miles of pristine beach, lots of sand dunes , sea grass, birds, and very few peoople. My kind of place.

This is enough for my first entry. Wioll post pictures as I learn how. Old people learn slow , so do not hold your breath. LOL
See you later ,
